Steel: This knife is made with 52100 carbon steel. 52100 is fine-grained steel and as a result, this knife is extremely sharp. However, carbon steels are not stainless and will rust if they are not properly taken care of.
Balance point: The balance point of this knife is about 2 inches in front of the handle making it a bit more front-heavy than a chef's knife. This additional weight can help with chopping and mincing.
Blade geometry: The grind is pretty flat and ground down almost to the edge with a slight convex curve right before the secondary bevel.
